Compliments have become so underrated these days.
It’s as if we’re scared of saying something nice. Scared that it’ll ruin the beauty. Scared that it’ll turn out to be an illusion. Scared that it’ll be taken the wrong way.
We never tell anyone that they look good anymore. Tell them how kind they are. Tell them how great they seem.
A single smile could light up someone’s day. No one’s expecting us to write poetry in their honor but that’s just it. It’s so underrated. Making an effort is underrated.
Let’s try it for a change. Just for once, ditch sarcasm, hold back that snarky comment. Even if you don’t initiate it maybe respond to a ‘aren’t I nice’ with ‘absolutely’ instead of a scoff. I bet it’ll throw them off and the reaction will be priceless.
But more than that compliment someone because no one really does anymore.
