Have you ever had that feeling, a pit in your stomach, when a really good movie is about to end or you’re in the last chapter of the book? How would you feel if that feeling lasts for an entire year?
19… End of the teens. No more free pass to act weird or impulsive, no one to say ‘ It’s natural, she’s a teenager’. The end of the Golden years. No matter what people say and how much they complain about people conveniently perceiving them as too young or too old, the teens are the best time of our lives. It is that period when we get to explore ourselves, venture new opportunities, go crazy! We can make our own decisions, yet we can always trust our parents to get us out of the mess. This is the time when we get to experiment. We start opening up to the facts of life without losing our childish optimism. It’s all rainbows and teddy bears! Even though our problems may seem like the end of the world, somewhere deep in our minds we know they are not.But it is fun to be dramatic isn’t it.
But not for long… The clock strikes 12, its your birthday, you’re nineteen, and a whole new person. Someone ready to suit up to be the adult they are supposed to be. Sure it must feel great to take responsibility and answer no one but yourself, but won’t you miss those good old days? Won’t you remember all you wanted to do and wish that you could get all those years back just once more, just until you turn 19.
